Beneath The Surface, chapter 31 teaser

Bella lifted her head in the direction of Edward’s voice and found him standing in his doorway in just a pair of basketball shorts. He’d had first shower tonight and she could tell from the way the light shined on his wild hair that it was still damp.

“Everything okay?” he asked. It seemed that her silence was concerning him; if he knew her lack of verbal skills was a result of his shirtless state, he’d be impossible to be around.

She gave herself a shake and told him, “I’m okay. Are you okay?”

“I’m great. Why wouldn’t I be?”

“You’re in your room. You’re usually in mine.”

“Yeah,” he agreed, running his hand through his wet hair. “I was thinking …”

She walked toward him; she didn’t like being so far away and unable to see his eyes while they talked. “Thinking or overthinking?” she asked with a grin.

He waited until he had his arms around her to answer. “I was thinking you might like to stay in my room tonight. Have some room to stretch out instead of being scrunched into your bed.”

“I like being scrunched in with you.”

“I like it too but sometimes a little space is nice. More room. Extra pillows.” His touch was feather-light as he traced the dark skin beneath her eye. “And maybe a longer stretch of sleep.”

She grinned at her own naivety—of course he would notice.

He skimmed his nose along the column of her neck and then pressed a kiss to the underside of her jaw. “So what do you think? Want to spend the night in my room?”

Beneath The Surface Chapter 28 pictures

The Cape Fur Seal is also known as the brown fur seal, the South African fur seal, and the Australian fur seal.  These are the largest and most robust of all species. They have broad heads with pointed snouts, external ear flaps, and long whiskers.  Their external ears are what set them apart from true seals. Their large eyes can also see both forward and to the sides, giving them an advantage when hunting and being hunted.

The fur of these seals has multiple layers. The first layer is soft and thick, protecting them from cold temperatures. This fur is covered by a long, harder layer of course hair. Adult males vary in coloring from dark gray to brown with a light belly. Females are light brown to gray with a darker back and belly. Pups are born black and molt to gray with a pale throat in the first five months. After that, their coloring depends on their sex.
These seals love the sea but they never stray too far from land. Their diet is about 70% fish, 20% squid, and 10% crustaceans and cephalopods. On occasion, they have even been seen consuming birds. The South African subspecies can dive as deep as 204m and stay under for as long as seven minutes.
Bulls (males) are extremely territorial and keep a close watch on their harems, consisting of between five and twenty-five cows (females). Pregnancy in cows lasts eight months and produces a single pup. Within six days of giving birth, the cows are ready to mate again. Cape Fur Seals prefer to breed on rocky islands, rock ledges and reefs, and pebble and boulder beaches. Ridges on their flippers help them with climbing and make it possible for them to easily navigate outcroppings like Seal Island in South Africa.

Beneath The Surface chapter 22 pics and some awesome fanart.

Here are some photos of the tidal pool Masen and Guppy visit together. I agree with them that the hills look like curved fins. LOL  And the other photos are Masen's new/old camera mask. The one Guppy gives him is a bit scratched up in spots but he sure seems to like it anyway. ;)

We'd also like to thank Elana86 for the awesome fanart she made for us. You can check it out below!

Beneath The Surface, chapter 20

While many parts of BTS are fictitious, like The Submarine vessel and the Colossus Crew, much of the information we present is 100% true. Sharks truly are in danger of becoming extinct all over the world. They are being slaughtered at ridiculous rates and their plummeting numbers are putting the entire balance of the ocean at risk.

Another true item is the existence of a huge research vessel for attracting, catching, tagging, and bio-sampling sharks. The OCEARCH is a 126' vessel with a custom lift and research platform--an at-sea laboratory for leading researchers and institutions. The work performed aboard this amazing ship provides groundbreaking data on shark biology, health, and migration. The information gathered is used to help support conservation efforts the world over.

To find out more about the crew of OCEARCH and their amazing work, visit the sites listed below.

And if you happen to have a spare dollar lying around, consider donating it to OCEARCH. Masen will love you for it ;)
